AOYAMA SAKE FLEA Vol.4 – Experience the craftsmanship of Japanese sake making!

Hot off the success of our last three events, Aoyama Sake Flea returns to the Aoyama Farmer’s Market on March 5th and 6th.

Spring in Japan brings many treasures, and for craft sake makers that means one thing: making lots and lots of sake. Production has reached a fever-pitch and new vintages are ripe for quaffing. This time ‘round, 17 of Japan’s best and the brightest producers will be proudly showing off their wares for our “Spring Extravaganza”.

Sample fresh sake directly from the barrel or opt for exclusive bottles rarely found in Tokyo while you chat with the brewers about the philosophies, concepts and stories behind their craft.

As any sake aficionado will tell you, the perfect pairing of sake and food rivals that of the finest wines. Luckily for us all, a variety of food vendors will be serving up their best all weekend. Hop around from brewer to brewer and discover the myriad ways to pair sake with food – your tastebuds deserve it! .

This is the perfect opportunity to sip, learn and experience the meticulous craftsmanship of Japan’s favorite beverage. Come and celebrate the new vintage with us!

03: Bread Lab × SAKE FLEA workshop, supported by Media Surf Communications Inc. (in Japanese only)

While ”The Perfect Pairing” is served in a more traditional way, SAKE FLEA also seeks the bolder pairing of two children of fermentation: bread and sake. Aoi Irie, the chief director of bread-loving collective “Bread Lab” (http://bread-lab.com/) and Mai Morita, the first “Miss Sake” pagent winner (http://www.missake.jp/) will be our guide to this unique exploration of fermented deliciousness.

Six different sake types have been carefully selected for this weekend brunch opportunity, paired with several different kinds of mouth-watering breads (with herbs, citrus peels, Japanese smoked radish pickles and sake yeast bread, to name a few!).

Two workshops will be held each day and will take place in two different locations.
Reservation required in advance. Fee: 3,500 yen.
